IBARRA’S J.D HOWARD SOUTHERN BLACK MOUTH CUR DOGS

The term “Black Mouth of the South” is related to the J.D Howard line of BMC dogs. Upon researching these dogs you can find various articles and internet posts naming dogs like the “Alabama Red” ; but to the best of our knowledge the black mouth of the south is related only to the JD Howard breed of BMC. The J.D. Howard black mouth cur dog is not identified by it’s owners as any other type of dog than the Southern Black Mouth Cur. The southern black mouth cur dog is a medium range hard and fast hunter that possesses the loyalty to sacrifice it’s own life to protect it’s master.

The original term “Black Mouth of the South” is also associated with the term “Southern Black Mouth Cur” and is one and the same with J.D. Howard dogs. As far as the various references to the Alabama red dog and statements from the internet we can conclude that Steve Howard has never recognized or identified the southern BMC dog with the Alabama red dog. Currently we would not even know where to locate or buy a dog by this name. The originator of the southern black mouth cur dogs is the Howard family; Mr. JD and Steve Howard have been prolificating the dogs to this day. We believe that these dogs are some of the finest hunting, working , and all purpose breeds alive. Ibarra’s primary goals when breeding our dogs is to stay true to the original lines and traits of the southern black mouth cur dogs.

Ibarra’s kennels proudly offer southern black mouth cur dogs to hunters, ranchers and outdoorsmen in 50 states and Canada. We have locations in California and Georgia which allows us to provide a coast to coast service to our perspective owners by limiting the cost and the distance in between kennels. Shorter transitions also mean less stress and better conditions for our puppies.

We have dogs hunting all types of wild game, working cattle, and protecting families and land across the country. Our southern black mouth cur dogs are very consistent in size, shape, color and even behavior. We have not to this date had a dog returned due to poor performance or lack of ability. The shade variations of our dogs range from light yellow to red, and we do not produce black and tan or brindled dogs.
